eustace scrubb

i wear it under my shirt, so i don't lose it. i took it out so i could use it to pray while waiting for the bus, but part of it broke and the WHOLE THING just spilled out onto the ground. turns out it was just beads on fishing pole wire. i didn't realize that when i bought it. it looked really nice, too... black metal beads and crucifix. i even had it blessed on Sunday by my parish's head priest!!!!!!!!

granted, it was only $5, so i guess you could say that i got what i paid for, but i'm still really disappointed.

I really like chain rosaries because if they break, all that happens is it falls off your neck, maybe one bead will fall off, and all you need to repair it is a pair of small pliers.

yeah, i've been wanting to get one of those, but they're only sold at the Catholic Shop here and their locations are all far from me and/or not on bus routes... :(

They're made of a sturdy string or rope or some kind. They're knotted...great quality. They'll send you one for free (although they do ask for a small donation - 5 dollars or so - if you can afford it).

Do not fret phriends! The Phatmass Industrial Rosaries will be here soon. Made of stainless steel beads and nearly indestructible aircraft wire. You'll literally be able to grab a hold of it and hang from it--even if you weigh as much as me.

They're gonna be dope!

My oldest rosary is dated 1814. Belonged to my great-grandmother's great grandmother. My dad wore it around his neck during WW2. I guess they just made them tougher back then. I guess they made everything tougher in the olden days.

I make my rosaries with job's tears beads and knotted wax linen. I've never had any come back as broken.

Ive got a Rosary that was dug up in an old latrine pit by a "hobbyist archaeologist" buddy of mine. The pit dates back to about 1800. Its missing quite a few beads and the crucifix and medal are all corroded and such, but its really neat!

As far as these "Phrosaries" go, I want one.

And Rosary Army's Rosaries are pretty razzle dazzle too. I've got one, though I rarely use it. I already have way too many Rosaries...

the company i used to buy twine from i just found out went out of business but here is another site. http://www.twinebydesign.blogspot.com/

In college I learned to make knotted rosaries (much like the ones rosary army give you) for friends. I had everything in knots, including the cross.

I make cord rosaries (I have about a hundred leftover from my wedding because they were the favors). They're very sturdy, you can wash them if they get dirty, they're dirt cheap to make, and you don't have to worry about them falling apart... because they can't.

My fingers are so picky about what feels good to massage in my fingers. And many have broke over the years.

I found I don't like the rope kind, nor odd shaped beads, nor too small or too large of beads, nor crystals due to the shape, etc.

So far, I've been favoring the rosary I was given at RCIA/first communion. I also have a similar looking one in another color, which I use when not able to get to the first one. It is cheap, but it hasn't fallen apart and it feels good in my fingers, so I like it.
