However, my personal favorite is His Emmince, Cardinal Arinze!
He would be an AWESOME Pope! I think Africa. That would be sooo cool.

This kind of question makes me think of someone saying

"After Dad dies, who do you think Mom will marry?"

I know, but still, it's interesting. By no means do I want to lose our awesome John Paul II!! May he serve the Church for many more years!!
I voted for Africa...but wouldn't it be cool if he came from Asia, where the Church is persecuted?? We'd be like, ha! try and not let us practice our religion!
Me, too! Cardinal Arinze would be cool, too, though.
with all due respect to this thread, I think it is a moot point. The Holy Spirit will choose whoever He wants and the Cardinals will respect His decision. Whether the man they elect will be from Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, or somewhere else is irrelevant, IMO because he will be the vicar of Christ. If a man whose skin tone happens to be a darker shade than white is elected, it won't be to make him "the first black pope" or "the first Asian pope." It will be becaus that is the man the Holy Spirit will have chosen.
I agree with your point, JP2Iloveyou, the Holy Spirit will probably surprise many :)
BTW, I think one of the early popes was from Africa, maybe North Africa.

I think and African pope would be cool but even cooler would be a pope from China. The church there is perscuted it would be awesome to have a pope from there it would send a great message to the underground Catholics in china. It would also send a message to the government there the church will thrive there even if perscuted by them. "On the 18th of January, 1998 Pope John Paul named two secret cardinals in a rarely used ecclesiastical rite known as 'in pectore,' Latin for 'in my breast' or 'in my heart.' This procedure is used to protect Roman clergy in politically dangerous and hostile environments." One of this is believed to be in China and the other in Vietnam. I don't know if the cardinal or any of the undergound bishops have the leadership skills or any of the skills and talents needed to be pope but i still think it would be cool.
God Bless,

That would b amazing there is no doubt i just dont know if the Bishops in China would b as qualified as some of their other counterparts not knocking them or anything but it would definatly put the Church in a different direction.
