Could Single Girls Benefit From Going To Theology On Tap?

Never heard of it. I don't believe in drinking by myself though nor with strangers, unless a loved one is with me. It's a rule of my loved one and makes sense because a lot can happen out there.

Theology on Tap is an international movement that brings Catholic speakers to places that aren't typical for religious discussions -- bars and pubs, dance clubs, etc.

The idea is to reach young people with the Gospel who wouldn't otherwise be open to going to a church ... and it's a great opportunity for young adult Catholics to socialize and realize they're not alone out there.

I mean, guys really like beer. It's just a thought.

Oh yeah, they can also get to know Jesus better as well. Ummm...chya, that's a good thing too.

It's my understanding that no women like beer or places where beer is served. Also while they have a tendency to love Jesus, they really have no interest or basic understanding of Theology nor do they desire one.

Everyone in my Theology on Tap group (okay ripoff of one, because we're poor and can't afford a license for the name) was already in a committed relationship personally. Well, except for the homosexual man and I. The past few weeks I've heard less theology wise and more "so these are our wedding plans so far..." and some encouragement and advice/"don't make me kick your butt" about a possibly budding relationship.

It really does show the Christian faith to some who wouldn't encounter it normally though. Having a group of people pray over their food in a bar does draw a lot of stares and the occasional question, especially when you all cross yourselves. We had our only negative experience as a group at our last meeting of the semester earlier this week with a very belligerent drunk man on the sidewalk threatening one of our members for daring to talk about forgiveness with another member. He was drunk, coarse, had been thrown out of a bar already, etc. Eventually, he tried to go in the bar we had left and was turned away for already being intoxicated; the bouncer and a few people on the street watched as we prayed for him after he left though.

If it's a Widmer Hefeweizen, I'm totally game, especially if it's on tap. :) The Theology on Taps that I've been to have been pretty excellent. They were also fairly structured - someone gave a talk, and then had questions prepared if none arose organically. Somehow they attracted the super Catholic and the not-so-practicing. It was a strange combination.

But to answer the original question, Yeah, I totally think so. But it really shouldn't be construed as a way to pick up guys. :)

I would just endeavor to make sure the theology being presented is faithful to the Church, and that the alcohol on tap is something that actually resembles a proper beer and not just the watered down beer-like processed product that seems to be so common these days.
