Lil Red
In regards to "respect for the dead", you have to remember that before public parks, people would oftentimes go to cemeteries for their afternoon stroll or for a picnic. It's only in the past century that we've taken on this ultra-scrupulous tendency towards cemeteries.
and towards death, in general. CatherineM
The overnighting in the cemetery began with me because of my Godparents. They would stay all night having a picnic at the cemetery on All Saints/All Souls day. Day of the Dead thing for Mexicans. It freaked my mom out, so much the better. missionseeker
If you mean road tripping, road tripping, there is a book called "The next exit" My family (who literally live on the road) has gone through TWO copies, they find it so useful. It basically tells you what is on every single exit on every single interstate (including Hawaii which amuses me, because of the fact that Hawaii even has interstates... ). It's good for planning ahead and not getting stuck at places with no gas stations for miles. When ever they get to place for an extended period of time (a week) they check out the local museums. Also, just sayin' but South Beach at 1:30am is pretty freakin' amesome. Edited December 12, 2011 by missionseeker
