missionseeker
Also, it's not so much a christmas party as much of a "Everyone is leaving for two or three weeks, so come chill at my house and eat my food before we leave" party. missionseeker
idk... but I would rather have too much food than too little! And the turkey was free!

Luigi
Well you have plenty of munchies/snacks. But the sit-down portion of the dinner is going to look a little thin.... an entree, a starch, and a side fruit? Maybe an interesting salad... using seasonal vegetables instead of bagged lettuce? Some kind of potatoes... Nana used to cut them to an even size, then boil them in oil until they were a beautiful golden... salt to taste. Corn & string beans mixed together... either three parts corn to one part string beans or vise versa... They look terrific together. But the desserts are pretty well covered! BTW, since this is really "food for the journey," I think you should invite your friends to Missionseeker's Viaticum.
missionseeker
I just wasn't sure I wanted to cook a WHOLE turkey dinner. I will probably do some southern style sweet potatoes though.

CatherineM
We're doing ours Boxing Day this year, and I'm serving biscuits and gravy for all the shoppers who went out to early to get a decent breakfast.
MissyP89
I feel like you need something hors d'oevres-ish besides the chips/dip. Veggie tray? You can ask someone to pick one up.
