Dave
Thanks for everyone's support. Don't worry; I never thought seriously about leaving. But I have another thing to vent about. I've been going through another really hard time where I'm feeling inadequate and inferior. I don't claim to have been lily-white in my dealings with others on Phatmass (which took place in individual chats rather than here on the phorum), but lately so many people haven't realized how much their words can hurt -- even those words that are meant to help. I mean, in an effort to help, they say things that don't make me feel better but rather make me feel worse, as their words are quite insensitive and fail to take into account where I'm coming from. Or they may try and preach to me, which is really preaching to the choir and also is of no help to me And to top it all off, some don't even know how to say "I'm sorry." And not to sound like I'm assigning blame here, but all that sort of stuff has incited me to do is lash out. And regarding my comments about feeling inadequate and inferior, don't start telling me that I'm so precious in God's eyes and stuff like that. While I know it's true, at this time it's just of no comfort to me at all. Sad but true.
Katholikos
Dave, please don't go. Phatmass will miss you and vice versa. It's okay to be human and therefore imperfect. We all have to make allowances for each other, since none of us are where we want to be, emotionally or spiritually. We're all on a journey. Walk with us. morostheos
Hey dave, We all go through times of feeling inadequate and inferior. I know that doesn't make it any better, but it is evidence of the fact that the devil wants us to feel that way. The devil is the father of all lies and convinces us that we aren't good enough, that we just can't do anything right, that we aren't strong enough to give our lives to God in this world. Don't listen to him! It is hard when people with good intentions don't understand where we are coming from, because we all want to be understood. But remember, fight the good fight against the devil. You don't have to worry about if you're strong enough, turn to God because He is strong enough. If you depend on God, you can't go wrong. Remember God isn't only all warm and mushy and about good feelings, He's about finishing out the battle against Satan that was already won. I'll be praying for you! Norseman82
A lot of people can be hurtful when they use the pre-packaged "one size fits all" responses when in fact we are not in a "one size fits all" world. It's NOT wrong if you let people know the hurtful effect it has on you; in fact, it could be educational for them to learn the shortcomings of the "30 second soundbyte" and pre-packaged "one size fits all" versions of Christianity. The trick is how to do it. Besides, if you left, do you realize how many people would probably not even remember their own birthdays???
Fiat_Voluntas_Tua
I apologize Dave... Remember O gracious Virgin Mary, That never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left un-aided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thy Oh Virgin of Virgins, My Mother, To thee we Come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the word incarnate despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer us. Amen. (You said the Memorarae was your fav. prayer.) peace and love through Mary, Andy JMJ
Ash Wednesday
Besides, if you left, do you realize how many people would probably not even remember their own birthdays???
After my 21, I think I pretty much forgot mine. It's all downhill from there.
