Era Might Posted November 29, 2011 Share Posted November 29, 2011 (edited) I was in Latin America this past Sunday so I missed the first Sunday with the new Missal, but I went to Mass in English on Monday when I got back to the USA and was pleasantly surprised at how much of a difference the new translations make, even though they're not HUGE changes. I was especially struck at the Confiteor and how strong it is to repeat three times "my fault, my fault, my most griveous fault." It's like it hangs there and forces you to say it and mean it. Anyway, I'm loving the new translation...what did you all think. At my parish we had small booklets which listed in bold each part that was changed, so it was easy to follow the changes. Not in a bad way, but in a "I'm really not used to this, I feel funny doing it this way" type way, where you feel awkward and kind of want to giggle. But maybe that's just me... I guess some of the parts between the Deacon and the Priest they haven't fully learned the new way yet, so they were just saying those parts in Latin. And I heard at one Mass, Father was trying to sing (well, chant) during the consecration, but had to stop part way through because he was starting to get confused. Nola Seminarian Posted November 30, 2011 Share Posted November 30, 2011 the beauty of the Catholic faith is eloquently presented with the new translation of the text of these prayers. i loved my faith with the old translation and i will continue to love my faith (and hopefully this new translation will help my faith grow ever deeper) with this new translation too!
