FutureSister2009
I'm usually the one who starts the topics like this. I would like to know what everyone's favorite Christmas Songs are. They can be Religious of course and if you have any favorite secular Christmas songs, feel free to add them! And if you really want to get into it, share some of your favorite Advent hymns as well! I'll start! Luigi
The greatest version of the greatest secular Christmas song - very plain images, but at least they're not offensive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilLT-ge6Luo&feature=fvsr The greatest version of the second-greatest secular Christmas song - slightly better image: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ku1CMW7Zkwg&feature=related
Luigi
Grandma got run over by a raindeer! just joking
I knew you had to be. The problem with novelty songs is they're funny only the first 600 times or so. Now, if they were to paraphrase it to something like Mother Superior Got Run Over By a Reindeer... or Monsignor O'Sullivan Got Run Over By a Reindeer... that might re-funni-fy it some. Luigi
Not a hymn that we'd ever sing in my church, but I consider it a Christmas-themed religious song. Enjoy. AnneLine
Somewhat of an ecclectic list, this: Advent Wachet Auf (Wake, Oh Wake! for night is flying!) Come Oh Lord, and Set Us Free.... Bring Your People Peace! (Darryl Ducote, Gary Daigel) (That this is one of theirs a surprise! I usually don't like their stuff!!!) Christmas Of the Father's Love Begotten Silent Night Go tell it on the Mountain The Gentle Beasts (OK, maybe this one goes under secular, but I think St. Francis would love it!) SOME of the songs on Gentle Night (the SLJ Advent/Christmas album), (I know, some people will now throw popcorn at me....) esp. The Beautiful Mother (best version I could find....) and Who has Known (both by John Foley, SJ) (couldn't find a clip) Secular CHIPMUNKS!!!!! LOVE their christmas album!!! the Bing Crosby Christmas album! Do you see what I see? Little Drummer Boy Carol of the Bells The Messiah!!!! BG45
Silent Night...it just perfectly reflects for me the solemnity for the holy night. Second place being, Joy to the World, because it's not just a solemn occasion but a cause for great joy!
