Sarah147
Hello, I'd like to hear what people were thinking when they put their avatar up. What is your avatar? God bless you.
i<3franciscans
I love the CFRs so there is nothing better than a picture of me and my friends dressed in their habits converting the world on Halloween lol.
OnlySunshine
Before my current avatar, I had a picture of the Sacred Heart. I put it up right after my CRHP weekend that had the theme of "A Heart for Jesus." I thought it fit beautifully. I kept it for a long time. My current avatar is of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a child on the day of her Presentation. I love this picture so much because I believe it reflects the innocence and beauty of Our Lady. icelisou68
Mater, I love your new avatar, that picture is beautiful ! My avatar is a picture of the elevation at Mass because, to me, it is the most important moment in Catholic life. Also, I chose a picture of the EF because this is the form I usually attend. she_who_is_not
Mine is Our Lady, Undoer of Knots. Like a good mother, she is helping me to unravel some messes I've made.
CatherineM
I am a basset hound lover. I'm also in school. It seemed like a perfect combination. I use the same avatar on every forum I'm on so people will recognize me.
dominicansoul
When I first joined phatmass, I used a picture of St. Dominic and changed it up every month. When I discovered, "Kissing the Face of God" by Morgan Weistling, I thought it was perfect for the Dominican charism---to Jesus through Mary... Marian devotion emphasized with an undying thirst for union with Jesus... I have never changed it ever since...
BG45
It comes from the show Babylon 5. There's a group of monks who lives on the space station, and in an age of secularism, they reflect a deep knowledge and serenity. As the galaxy devolves into war, the chess playing abbot and the captain are involved in a game and the captain asks how he's so calm with all that goes on. His reply is a simple one, "faith manages". Were this any other show, it would be a potshot at religion being for the simple minded, but the monks were shown to all be highly educated with sought after skills, so to have one of them deliver the line with a shrug as the fog of war settles, it was powerful. Since seeing that episode, it's become something of my mantra. No matter what, I just have to remember, faith manages.
GeorgiiMichael
The Miraculous Medal started my conversion and I have a huge devotion to it. Also, I have that particular version of the Miraculous Medal back tattooed on my right shoulder.
Luigi
I've had about half a dozen avatars - this one has been up longest just because I haven't gotten around to scouting up any other. But in any case, I'm interested in American church history, so they're usually early missionaries to the US - Fr. Nerinx, Mother Duchesne, Bishop Fenwick, OP, his cousin Bishop Fenwick, SJ, etc. My current avatar is Fr. DeSmet, SJ.
MissyP89
I'm 22, and over the past few years my life has been in a constant state of uncertainty and flux. It's not been easy at all. I put this avatar up a while back to remind myself that everything I go through is necessary to God's plan for my life. I love butterflies -- they're the perfect symbols of hope and perseverance. And I'm kinda the same way, finally starting to see the other side of the struggle. I'm actually toying with changing things up for Advent. MissScripture
My avatar is R2-D2 wearing a fedora, like Indiana Jones. I've had a variation on this avatar since I came to PM in 2005, mainly just because I like Star Wars, and Indiana Jones and I love R2-D2. Then, when PM went to having our avatars as the signatures, I included a quote from C-3PO about R2, which says, "Kept babbling about his mission!" I liked that, because we're all on a mission from God. And when we went back to regular avatars, I just squished it all down into the square. And I don't think I could ever change my avatar, or else I wouldn't recognize myself. It confuses me when people first change their avatars, because I pay more attention to the picture than the name, so I don't know who is saying things.
