immaculata
I've been to one Novus Ordo Mass in Latin.. our Latin teacher at school asked the chaplain to say a Latin Mass one day, just so we could see what it's like. It was really amesome, trying to pick out different words that I recognized. he was fairly young, I'd guess 30 something--and was wearing a really cool Matrix-like cassock after mass LOL!! Those always make me think of the Matrix, too!!! B) All for the Immaculata, Katrina

Donna
Just to mention, any 'old school' Mass is valid when celebrated by an ordained Catholic priest, with proper matter, form and intent. Edited August 18, 2003 by Donna
vianney
Vianney: why not? Well for starters I see mysefl more as a diocesean priest, one of the "originals". The formation program there doesnt seem to fit me. Granted I would love the latin chants and latin and greek in general but they have a VERY regimented schedule. Look at there daily schedule. I wouldnt mind classes or study but the free time spent there definately would NOT fit me. To rigid. But like I said I have nothing but respect for those guys and what they are doing. It is a very beautiful order just doesnt fit my spirituality.
Jake Huether
Yeah, this church is very accomodating. lol They have two Novus Ordo masses in the morning. A Spanish and Korean mass in the afternoon, and a Latin mass in the evening. And you said this Parish has one priest! Is it this one priest that does all the Masses? Or do visiting priests say them? How does that work. Also, and was wearing a really cool Matrix-like cassock after mass Those are sooooo cool! If I ever became a priest, I would definitly wear that. They look so reagul (sp?). There is something about a priest wearing one of those that makes me have a deeper respect or reverance. I don't know... The priests at my Parish don't wear them. But there is one Church I go to every so often, outside my parish, and the priests wear them.
mark4IHM
Dust, I found your account very interesting. I remember my first Tridentine Mass. I had a Missal but got totally lost. By the end I was actually annoyed by the whole thing, it seemed a different form of worship than even the conservative Novus Ordo parish I was enrolled in. God gave me the grace to persevere, however, and in a short time I grew to love the Mass, and the reverence it offers our Lord. Its the most beautiful thing this side of heaven. MC Just
When I first went to a TRidentine Mass I was confsued for a while too, but i loved the reverance, I thought it was amesome.
yiannii
I went to a high Latin Mass a few weeks ago. It was such an experience. I loved the reverence shown towards the Eucharist and how we all kneeled to receive Communion. I remember kneeling and looking up at the Eucharist and REALLY appreciating what I was receiving. I would like to attend a Mass that got bits from the old Latin Mass and got bits from the Masses that we have normally.
morostheos
It's really cool to hear about the Tridentine mass. I've never been to a Latin mass before, but it's something I've always wanted to do. I should call the diocese and see where the closest one would be and check it out!

Laudate_Dominum
that's awesome dUSt! I haven't been to a Tridentine Mass in months and you just inspired me to start going regularly again. The main thing I judge a parish on is reverence. Even if the music is lame or whatever I can survive if its reverent. Tridentine has that but also has beautiful music and I love the depth of Theological symbolism and Biblical allusions in the Tridentine Liturgy. God bless. azaelia
I went to my first Tridentine Mass last Sunday Basically, I thought the exact same things you did. I love it, it's beautiful, but I got so lost at parts, and it would take me a few more times to really be able to follow it. And my mantilla kept falling off So glad you had a chance to experience it Edited September 29, 2004 by azaelia
