Sarah147
It's nice thinking about all these things but it's hard to tell what to save my money up for. I have a small job, and I want to save up for my next vacation in 2012, but at some point I'd also like a laptop and I don't know if I should bother with the ipod. Plus I have various expenses that come up for stuff.
Totus Tuus
I basically do this totus tuus... it is actually kind of nice not having immediate internet access ANYWHERE I go. There are enough wi-fi spots that I can hit with my iTouch if I really need to do something on the internet. I have a feeling instant internet access would take away from more holy things for me to do with my time. For texting I still use my regular phone with t9 texing since at work I don't have wi-fi on my itouch. The fact that what I save not paying for a data plan (minimum $15) pays off the cost of a refurbished iTouch in 10 months is really what does it for me. For those who have the $25 data plan over a 2 year contract, that is $600... For that price I can go buy a new laptop every 2 years, and just stick with my itouch and regular phone.
That's great input, thank you! How much did you get your refurbished iTouch for? I haven't been able to find them for much less than $200, which is the price of a new one anyway. Oh, and I'm on Verizon so I believe the minimum data plan for me is $30. There is another that's $60. Right now I'm on this amesome deal (that I've had for about 8 years and they can't break the contract) where I only pay $10 a month. I really really really don't want to lose that. Then I became that person who always burns a hole in their pocket. Now I'm trying to just be moderate. It is very difficult not to spend more than you make when you don't even make enough to survive (which is true in my case, and there's nothing I can do about it... I'm relying on a spouse for at least half the roof that's over my head!)
KenW
Totus, you can buy outright any Verizon compatible phone (like on eBay), and simply pay the activation fee, and keep your grandfathered contract intact.

OnlySunshine
What do webpages look like on the ipod touch? Such as email, phatmass, google, etc.?
Most of the time, there are mobile pages that are modified to fit smaller screens. The nice thing is that the iPod Touch has a tilt screen so when you turn it horizontally, the website appears bigger.
