cmotherofpirl
I think in order to successfully fight this problem we also have to turn off our TV.
Guest
So is it a less grave offence if one masturbates and doesn't use porn ? I haven't had sex in a long time but I do masterbate. I find it impossible to stop. Probally something to do with testosterone. I don't use porn though but that doesn't make it any better correct ? Its still just as bad right ? So is the big issue porn or masterbation ? Just because someone stops watching porn doesn't mean they still won't masturbate.
Maybe I'm being really naive here or something, and I apologise if this is a stupid question, but if your problem is a physical one (hormone overload let's say), is there some way you can get any hormone treatment to make this impulse less strong and give you more control over the urges? I know that women on different hormones (like HRT or other hormone treatments) can have different reactions such as reduced libido etc... So I just wondered if there was something that could help you with the physical aspects of the problem. But, as I say, I don't really know much about it, especially from a male point of view. I know that women have lustful thoughts too, but I think our hormones are based more on the reproductive cycle and get stronger during times of fertility, whereas men seem to have this problem more of the time because they are always fertile (if you get what I mean). But these are just thoughts - I have no information about it at all.

We can pretend like its not normal but that is not reality. Edited November 17, 2011 by Guest

I do understand however, that it is a common problem.

Not being male, I don't know how hard it is for males in this area, but I would hate to think that every male who is not sexually active believes it is natural to do this, especially as the Church considers it a mortal sin. Just saying, but maybe there should be another thread about this on the Deabte Table, but I'm not going to start it. I just wonder about what you aer saying, that's all. Not that it doesn't happen, but whether it should be considered 'natural' or not.

KenW
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he says to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other is good - he is gratitude, joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy ,generosity, truth, compassion and faith. This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather which wolf would win. The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
Papist, may I shamelessly plagiarize you on my Facebook page?
I see what you're getting at, and I agree with the sentiment, but perhaps a better way to phrase it would be that masturbation is an unnatural (yet typical) response to a natural desire when there is no other outlet for that desire.
