Ellenita
I was in church this morning and saw lots of children doing the rehearsal for their first Holy Communion - it was very beautiful to see how excited they are! My question is this, will they go through confirmation when they are adults, or is confirmation only for adults who have not participated in communion before such as 'converts' like myself? Thank you.
Pio Nono
JMJ 5/1 - St. Joseph the Worker Ellenita, Though Confirmation is not required explicitly to enter the kingdom of Heaven, Holy Mother Church wishes everyone to receive Confirmation. Everyone has the option of receiving and is earnestly admonished to receive the sacrament of Confirmation when their diocese permits them to. In the ancient Church, people would receive Confirmation before receiving First Communion (just as an interesting sidenote). Hope this helps.
