the171
Told you.
Dylana=John. I'm sure you knew. haha
My sponsor's Confirmation name was Marie, she has no idea why. She doesn't remember a thing from her Confirmation because when she was 18 she left the Church, so... But she got the record and stuff, so she found out it was Marie. I have no idea about the difference, it is pretty strange...
Strange.
FutureCarmeliteClaire
Strange.
Yeah, I know. She says that she likes to call my Confirmation "our Confirmation" because she feels like she is being Confirmed with me as her sponsor. It is funny, but I feel so sad for her at the same time. To not be able to remember a thing about your Confirmation and now be such a devout Catholic. It makes me sad for her. Yeah, so I have no clue about the name vs. saint thing... Maximilianus
There are saints that don't even have biblical or saint's names, well until they got canonized. Edited November 8, 2011 by Maximilianus

Basilisa Marie
I want to say that you're really only allowed two if you're getting baptized as well. But hey, if your priest or bishop let you go with Lourdes for Bernadette, I see no problem. I would have been Hildegard for confirmation, but at the time thought she was super obscure and the name was bizarre so everyone would judge me. Silly me. I went with Perpetua, but she's pretty sweet too.

Being that one of her patrons was St.Benedict and he's one of the patrons of religious life..

Sarah147
Why do we get a confirmation name and when is it used?
Basilisa Marie
It's supposed to be a saint you want to model your life after, like another special patron in heaven. As far as I know, it's not really "used" for anything.
Totus Tuus
I took Joan Marie (for Joan of Arc, and Our Lady). I consider St. Joan of Arc my confirmation saint.
