Difference Between Your Confir. Saint And Confir. Name?

I've heard of people taking St.Bernadette as their saint, and taking the name Lourdes. Can you explain confirmation names and saints? Can you choose mulitple saints and take a name like, for example, Edith Therese or something like that? I'm confused...

In RCIA my director let me take two names/saints Teresa (Edith Stein) and Thoma (St Thomas Aquinas). I was the only one that did that though so I don't really know the exact "rules". I'm not sure if this makes a difference but I was baptized, confirmed and received first Eucharist all during the Easter vigil. So it is possible that I was able to take two names because one was considered a baptismal name and the other my Confirmation name.

Yes you do! Everyone does. It's just your first name. When you're baptized as an infant, you are baptized with the name your parents gave you. However, when you are baptized as an adult, you can take a different name for your baptism.

Isn't it supposed to be a saint's name? My first, and middle names, are not. I checked EVERYWHERE.

I do know a girl can take a guy name. I wanted my confirmation name to be Jude FOREVER. Then I rediscovered Joan of Arc and was sold. However, if I was confirmed in 11th grade, and not 7th, I would have definitely chosen Hildegard!

I know one can take the name of virtues (we had a Charity last year), so I'm sure it's fine to have the name Lourdes and attribute it to St. Bernadette. Though I like the name Bernadette...

Your first name isn't biblical at all? Not the name of an angel or minor bibilical figure (NT or OT) or a variant thereof? Unless it's something like "Bookshelf", your name is probably biblical, or a derivative of a biblical name.

I looked it up. You do.

Your name is the Welsh feminin form of Dylan. Dylan is a variant of Ian. Ian is Welsh for John. So you've got John the Beloved!

Dylana Skye. I don't think so. Not even a St.Dylan.

My sponsor's Confirmation name was Marie, she has no idea why. She doesn't remember a thing from her Confirmation because when she was 18 she left the Church, so... But she got the record and stuff, so she found out it was Marie. I have no idea about the difference, it is pretty strange...
