MarysLittleFlower
This might seem like a strange question, but... I'm Catholic and my mom is (not really practicing) Eastern Orthodox. From what I've read, the Orthodox Church doesn't really agree with Orthodox worshipping together with Catholics. If my mom wants to come to Adoration with me, and there will be Benediction, and if she participates in the hymns.... I don't know if that's a sin from the Orthodox perspective, but if it is, what could I do? I don't want to tell mom to "not come with me", especially because she doesn't attend church so this could help her.... what do you think?
beatitude
It is not sinful for her to do that from either perspective - Orthodox or Catholic. The Orthodox believe in the Real Presence, just as we do. In fact, Orthodox Christians are even allowed to receive the Eucharist with us in cases of emergency. I pray that there will be reunification within my lifetime. We're family, even though we do have a split down the middle. A sin is something that separates us from God. Ask yourself, could prayer ever do that?
LouisvilleFan
A good Orthodox priest would probably not encourage one of his parishioners to attend Catholic Adoration, but I also think a good Orthodox priest would see more value in your mother going to Adoration than going nowhere at all. Obviously the shared belief in the Eucharist exists, although it may be another question as to whether your mother believes in it. The great thing about a Holy Hour is you can be there, sit, and however much or little one chooses to participate is quite alright. There's no concern about receiving Communion unworthily, for example. So invite her and see what happens with time. Totus Tuus
A lot of people have converted because they realized the true presence is real by sitting in adoration. Your mom might already believe in that, being Orthodox, but maybe this is what she needs to bring her home to the Church! Good luck!
or maybe [hopefully] instead of Roman Catholic, she can become the Eastern Catholic version of her eastern church
