Thomas Michael
I thought the Church allowed men who were divorced or widowed to become priests. If there was sexual impropriety in one's past, you'd think confession & penance would be able to set that straight. If these seminaries are insisting on complete virginity for potential priests, they're only shooting themselves in the foot.

PedroX
Anna and Likos on the same thread? Its like dying and going to heaven! I've missed you guys. To the others, Remember, that the Bishop is the head of your church. He is the successor to the apostles. Remember also that life is long. Irish, you have a whole lot of time to prepare for what you feel God is calling you to do. Go to college, get a spiritual director, make more friends. Do all that you can to embrace God and His church. If the call is true it will still be there. Maybe God is just telling you to wait. peace... Quietfire
Couldnt have said it better myself PedroX IrishG8, You went to college? (excuse me....Hi....nice to meet you.....sorry..I dont know exactly how it works when one wants to become a priest) Anyway, Think on it this way.....when a man and woman fall in love and cant wait to get married...theyre parents and friends often tell them to slow down...wait a bit...if you truly love each other, then 'in a while' it will still be there. I am sure this has happened to some on the board, it happened to me. Fell in love and couldnt wait to spend my life with him. But I did take the advice and waited..........never married him. Fell in love and waited....patiently....I knew that if God wanted us to be together then we would. We dated five years, then got married. Been married for almost eight. Patience...it will happen. Not in your time but His. I hope that helps. My prayers are with you. PEACE
Norseman82
They said that I moved around to much as a child.
That's a new one on me. I've NEVER heard of anyone being turned down for that! Do you have any diocesan priests that wrote letters of recommendation for you? Maybe they can go to bat for you. Another thing: many priests today do not go to seminary straight out of college. It may take a few years during which time the bureaucracy may change or you may get to know a priest that could vouch for you and go to bat for you. There's also the option of looking into various orders.
Yeah, actually, that's how I read the post in question as well-- that sexual impropriety in the past was not allowed. (btw, I don't think divorced men can be priests, can they???) traichuoi
hmmm...you know, having the whole application process to the seminary has its reasons. not to say you are not called to the priesthood but maybe you should take what was said and be obedient...i mean really reflect and discern what their reasons for denying you are... it sounds as though you have reacted to what has been said without taking it into consideration first...it may be hard to accept but you are not called to go to other dioceses or orders and apply just because one did not accept you...the only reason why you should apply at another diocese is because God has called you there... i may be sounding blunt but take it for what it's worth, you are really reacting off the emotions you are feeling and not your intellect and will... my $0.
