rachael
So, I received an e-mail last Thursday that class had been cancelled. YAY. Well, it turns out that it hadn't been cancelled, the other one had. Oh, yea I had a paper due. Well, I start freaking out when I find out today. I e-mail him, he states 'Class was held and the paper was due.' Okaaay. I ask him if it was alright that I turn my paper in, even for less credit. I have gotten no response. This paper is 20% of my grade and if I get below a B in this course, I have to wait a year and repeat.

MissScripture
That's ridiculous! Was there anything in the syllabus about late work? I agree with Ardil, if the prof is being that unreasonable, appeal higher up.
sixpence
I would first try to talk to him in person and show him the email from the other class, ask him to read the paper anyway even if he gives you a zero. If he refuses or reads it and does give you a zero then go to the dept. chair or whoever would be appropriate. PS~ Don't be too hard on yourself, I've done many, more silly things!
There was, it states something like, 'For papers submitted late, this may result in a reduction of grade." Which, um, I am totally razzle dazzle with.
I can't help but be hard on myself. The problem with this class is that if I don't get an A or B, I have to repeat the class. I would have to wait until next semester, therefore delaying my graduation a year. Oh, I also wouldn't be able to do field practicum next semester. Since my boss is my advisor/program chair, I think she *may* be able to help me. When I was completely going nuts about it Tuesday, I told her the situation and she told me to talk to him in person. She said that he would probably be ok with it. :/
MissScripture
If that's what the syllabus says, you would probably have some support from going up the chain of command if you have to. That's a really sucky situation. I would totally be having a meltdown if I were in your place.

ardillacid
Sometimes when I find myself in situations like these, I ask myself, "what would Jason do"? This is often a great help, except the answer is often something about drinking some frufru beverage
