Driving without a permit in Kansas is like walking. It's just a bunch of dirt roads out here. You have a better chance of finding a cow than you do a person.

That doesn't make it legal.

People die in car accidents on dirt roads, too. I know, because my dad felt the need to tell me about my aunt being thrown from her car and dying in the corn field we were passing as he was teaching me to drive on that dirt road. :|

I don't drive much. In my scrupulous days I wouldn't drive at all until my sister assured me it was absolutely okay and that it was an unjust law in the first place. I haven't driven in a few months, probably. The days I drive are few and far in between. It's always highly supervised and it's usually not in town.

I'm sorry, but that makes me laugh. It just seems like something my dad would do. If we go to Six Flags and go on the biggest fastest rollercoaster there, on the oh so slow way up he always says stuff like "That bolt right there doesn't seem very tight..."

Besides, I'm an excellent driver. The first time I drove I ran over a snake. Not only is that a God-given gift, but it's a sign that I am destined to be a great driver.

Why is it an unjust law? You're operating a motor vehicle on public roads. If you're driving around an empty field on your own property, I can see that. But operating a 4,000 pound piece of machinery isn't something to be taken lightly. Even if it's not "usually" in town, which implies that you HAVE driven in town, and I'm betting even in Kansas you will be driving past other people.

I don't know, ask her. She's a theology major so I trust her on such matters.

I cannot think of one reason that would be an unjust law.

Maybe you should ask. when it comes to theology, there's no reason NOT to ask.

Sure. As I said, it's rare when I drive, and I won't drive again until I have my permit, unless there is an emergency such as I go hunting with my dad, he gets shot, and I have to drive. Then again, I hope to get my permit this summer, so hopefully I can drive my shot dad legally by winter.

its ok because you have arbitrarily decided a law keeping immature 15 year olds from driving without training or license, and voiding any insurance incase you destroy your dad's car, or seriously injure another motorist/pedestrian... is unjust?

its not ok.

wat. did you just say "theology major" instead of "Lawyer" or "police officer"(who are not even a valid source for legal advice).

i had assumed the other posts saying you needed to grow up were exaggerating... but they werent.

Edit: felt the need to point out, since you posted a rather controversial thread about people being "sheep" recently, you sure do trust other people very far when it comes to rationalizing doing illegal/dangerous stuff.

Just because someone ignores an arbitrary licensing law doesn't mean they take the licensed activity lightly.

The overwhelming majority of accidents I have made in my career have been licensed drivers. The license has zero magical properties.

I wouldn't say the law lacks the character of justice, but is not in itself unjust. It simply is not just, and there is nothing inherently immoral in disobeying it.

Wait wait wait, I'm immature because I listen to my sister? If that's the case I suppose Convents are full of immature people.

I think you need a calendar. That thread was not recent at all, and if you stayed around for the ending, you would have noted I said I was wrong and apologized to everyone.
