So we are staying at my aunts house while out of town. the talk of confessions came up because i went to confession today. my aunt made a joke about not being to confession for 10 years. she then said she figures that says sorry some other time(not in confession) was fine, although she recognizes that the church says you need to go to confession(she mentioned this, so its not something i am inferring). now i did not say anything to her about the situation and just left it at that. did i sin, more importanly did i commit a mortal sin when i did not tell her and try to convince her that she should go to confession? please help on this question.

She seems to know what's the correct thing to do, but chooses to neglect it. You can pray for her that she will do the right thing, that's appropriate.
