How Is Mary Related To My Salvation?

Hi!

I am a born-again Christian and I am interested in the Catholic faith.. I would just like to know..

Is Mary related to my Salvation?

If yes, how so? If no.. why?

... Oh yeah. I've noticed that this forum is prone to text dumping.. Please don't text dump ya.. cos it'll discourage me to read. And if you are to present documents from the Vatican, please translate it into simple English.. so that lads like me can understand.

Thank u.

no being catholic...I can give you the answer I've come to find more often for most of what we "protestants" call extra-bibical beliefs.

yes. just because the church says so.

The Catholic faith is deep. Sometimes to fully explain a topic, it takes a little effort of reading.

Mary is related to all Christians because she is the mother of the Church. As Jesus said to John and Mary: "Woman behold your son" and "Behold, your mother". Afterward Jesus then said "It is finished."

You will be saved because of Christ, this is what the Church has taught since 33 AD.

Mary was the new Eve. Through Eve brought the fall of man (eating of the fruit), through Mary was brought the salvation of man (Christ Jesus).

Mary was the human that Jesus got all of His flesh from.

Correct. Although Mary gave birth to Jesus. We thank her and are grateful for that.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life..."

Scripture clearly states that I ONLY NEED to believe in Jesus. Therefore without a devotion or a belief in Mary we can still enter Heaven.

Right?

From reading the page, it seems they just use a lot of fancy words for Mary. Basically the gist of the pages is they call her the mother of the Church because of the little diddy Jesus said from the cross to her, and they say to imitate her because she somehow reaches out to the entire church.

All the rest of the Mariology would be from the praying to the saints bit it seems.

hehe. Yeah, i can understand why Catholics call Mary their mother but what I REALLY want to know is...

What's Mary got to do with my Salvation?? I mean yeah, she gave birth to Jesus... but that's IT. I now have Jesus. What's her role for our Salvation?

Would like hear from Bro. Adam though :P

Well, based on the reasoning you used and your interpretation of that verse, you wouldn't have to believe in God the Father or the Holy Spirit, or that Jesus was God, or that He died for us, or that He rose again (it doesn't specify how the Father "gave" Him), etc., etc.,

It's not just as simple as "I believe in Jesus."

Of course it's important to know the Trinity because Jesus & the Father & the Holy Spirit are ONE. And the fact that Jesus was God relates much to OUR Salvation.

I am not here to attack but to understand. thank you.
