TheresaThoma
Ok correction to mine In the spring of 2014 I will graduate with a BS in Aerospace Physics. (Even with going part time it is only a year later than my original graduation date! ) I just have to do all of the pesky paperwork now.

Luigi
BS = Bachelor of Science .... or some other choice phrase STD = Sacred Theology Doctor (or something like that - I think it's as high as you can go, degree-wise, in theology) I have no idea about the French, unless it's the cash-cow course at a particular college or in a particular program. By 'cash-cow course' I mean: There's no really good reason to require all students to take this particular course, but in our college/program EVERYBODY takes the French/Western Civ/Philosophy for Non-Philosophy Majors/Whatever Else. You'll see, when you get to college.

Most kids (unless they are majoring in it or minoring) only have to take two semesters or so. And French is one of the easier languages to learn. Question for the JDs and not trying to be disrespectful, I know how hard law school is from more than a few offline friends who have gone through it. Despite the American Bar Association saying it should be considered a terminal degree for hiring in Academia, a lot of job postings I've been looking at outright state that JDs need not apply, as it isn't a research degree. Do any of you have the research law degrees as well, like the LLM (Master of Laws) or the SJD/JSD (Doctor of the Science of Law)?

[/quote] The only professor I had in law school who had a LLM was the tax law guy. That's common for tax specialists though. Law School is mostly about teaching you to think like a lawyer. That's not really useful for teaching. You definitely learn to do research, but of a different kind. Some of my professors were working on LLMs while teaching. You probably have to have one to move up to a more prestigious school.

I call him every time I need a case law citation for a paper though; his skills in finding them far outstrip my own. Though since he went to law school, I kinda hope he always does. I've only met one LLM also, at a conference once; he was some sort of consultant for higher end clients that his firm serviced. I felt extremely dumb in legal matters while we chatted.
