Is there anybody who is more pro-life than Bush?
It makes no sense to vote for anyone than Bush.

You must use common sense here, because we're not just talking about who you stand up for, we're talking about the millions of babies that have been killed becuase of the Pro-choice movement. Even though Bush's stance isn't totally pro-life, he has been striving for a respect for life in this country. If a prolifer votes for someone other than Bush, they could be doing more harm than good, because the only two likely candidates for the presidency are Bush and Kerry. Bush would lose the vote and Kerry would come into office and raise hell in our country. It's not just voting for Bush; it's voting against Kerry.

God Bless
eh im not an American Citizen yet and im only 14 so i dont care at all about this thread :D
with all due respect, you should care about this. Simply because you are young doesn't mean that the upcoming elections will have no impact on your life.

Secondly, totally unrelated to my first point, what is disqualifying about supporting the DP? The Church supports the DP in very rare circumstances. Check the Catechism. As for the war in Iraq, you who oppose it, would it have been more just, in your opinion, to not do anything, ala Bill Clinton, and let tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of innocent Iraqis die? How arrogant of us to think that America is the only place where freedom can work. How arrogant of us to think that somehow we are so much better than everyone else and we are the only people who deserve to live in freedom. I think it is a no brainer. Please, someone defend this. I hear many charges against going to war, but never any real defense for it using sound reasoning, logic, and strong arguments from fact.

I do keep informed on what's happening, but not only can't I vote because I'm too young, I'm not American either. So though I know that it is important to know what's going on there is no way I will affect it.

Well, if you look back to the rhetoric that was bouncing around in 1998, as well as the actions in Kosovo, it's a big stretch to say that the Democratic party is fully in line with the Church on war. Their stance is really, I think, motivated by their current political status.
As for your main point on why it is disqualifying to support the Democratic Party, I find their main planks to be untenable. Abortion is a primary party platform. Even if you are a pro-life Democrat, you have very few options: either support big abortion candidates or be relegated to a second-class citizenship within the party. Their entire view of welfare, as well, I find to be extremely misguided. Here in St. Louis, there was a number of years ago a housing project built by the government to help the poor in the area. The way that it was set up made it extremely hard for families to get assistance. It, in a sense, discouraged fatherhood. There were a number of other stipulations which I find are characteristic of the liberal elite's view of poor black America. The help provided there was given to young single mothers at the exclusion of families, non-mothers, etc. The project no longer exists, having been a total failure. Across the river in Cahokia, what they did instead was give out interest free loans to allow people to build / obtain their own house, which meant that they had some kind of foundation and equity. While Cahokia is not a wonderful area, there are at least neighborhoods and communities.
I think that alot of the help that Democrats tend to give is extremely degrading and completely opposed to Catholic social teaching.
That's why I find it, though maybe not discrediting of those who support the Democratic party, impossible to support the Democratic party.
In Christ,
Dave

Bush is an idiot and Kerry is a hypocrite...welcome to America
:P
It seems we're waiting for an outstanding Christian with great values and great policies to come along...it ain't gonna happen.
America is a government made by the people and for the people.

It doesn't matter how a president feels, if enough pro-lifers decided to take a stand on Abortion, the government would have to listen. If they didn't listen to a major outcry to made policies for the people, we are not living in a democracy.
I'm not one to get all drawn into politics, but my .02 cents

BurkeFan, I think you misread my post. I was questioning those who were questioning President Bush. I supported and I still support the war in Iraq. I also support the DP in VERY rare circumstances. I by no means associate myself with the democratic party, ask anyone on here! :D

Hehe, you're rather right. I realized that I misread it nearing the end, and modified it a bit. The reason I left the war bit on there was a further questioning of those who criticize completely the actions taken by President Bush. And, the second part was more of my own view on supporting the Democratic party. Hee... sorry!

Today at the University I was reading about the Pro-Abortion March, and Dean was suppose to be a keynote speaker, but couldn't make it due to a conflict in his schedule

Whoopi Goldberg was at that march and had a hanger and hung it around her neck saying it was a human abortion, or something. It was quite weird wording.
