The British are coming! Sisters from Great Britain spoke at the Visitation conference in June.

Did you know that one of the foundresses of the Visitation Order suffered from a melancholy spirit, and experienced a weariness of life and anguish of spirit?

This story and other interesting accounts about the life and charism of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary are now available on free MP3 downloads, on the website of the Second Federation of the Visitation.

The talk is one of eight recorded at the recent four hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary (1610 to 2010), at a gathering of 54 Visitandines from the United States and other parts of the world, held in June 2011 in St. Louis, MO.

In the first talk, “Our Five Foundation Stones,” a delightful British Visitandine spoke on the interesting personalities of the First Mothers of the Visitation Order.

The topic of the conference was, “The Procession Honors the Heart of Jesus.” The sisters spoke on the spirituality of the Sacred Heart and the charism and history of the Visitation Order.

The sisters share with you the talks of this joyous meeting. For free MP3 downloads, go to the website of the Second Federation of the Visitation.

Actually, I've read extensively on St. Therese and she got alot if not most of her "little way" from St. Francis de Sales.

Yes, it's amazing how someone so young would have so much insight into the spiritual life, when you read her Journey of a Soul. Her upbringing must have been very good as far as the Catholic faith.

Hi Kevin - do you work for the Visitation Order or something? Your posts seem to very similar, in linking to this website. It's great, but probably don't need to post it in every thread though! :)

Yes, I'm promoting several religious communities which are good ones. What's the best way do you think of announcing various news and events that they have?

Hi Kevin:

Maybe open one thread per order ... an "XYZ news and events" thread (where XYZ is a particular order). Post news and/or an announcement. Maybe post something either when it is relevant (i.e. a come and see is coming up in two months, then a bump when the date gets closer).

We're all (if I dare say so) are really pro-communities in Vocation Station ... just that seeing the same thing post multiple times in multiple places, or too many posts kind of is a turn-off.

One great suggestion is for a sister of that particular community to JOIN phatmass, and to JOIN the discussions (I know in cloistered communities this may be more difficult). That is a good way for the sister (or religious brother) to get "free publicity". There are a number of sisters on the phorum that we've come to love and enjoy their input. That by far is the BEST promotion, because we get to know the community via the sister's (or brother's) own voice.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I for one, get turned off by the posting of the same link in multiple threads - it is too much like spam to be attractive. But we all do want to hear about communities and what they are doing, so I second cmaria's idea of making a thread for each particular community and then updating us with what's happening for them, and if possible to get one of them to give us some first hand knowledge and insight about that community - as their unofficial representative. Otherwise it is too much like 'hit and run' posting and not personal at all.
