MissyP89
I've heard that a priest has to be ordained for at least five years before he can become a spiritual director. Does anyone know anything about this? My confessor has been seeing me since his ordination 2.5 years ago. I was actually his third confession ever, poor guy. While we've discussed him becoming my formal SD, he says he's not allowed until it's been five years. So we've been talking when we can, now and then ... about family and faith and my love life. All of that affects my spirituality, and he knows that often the "mundane" stuff is really where the spiritual progress can begin.
HopefulBride
My former SD was only ordained for about 1.5 years before becoming my SD. I had never heard of that 5 year rule before; could it be a diocesan thing?
MissyP89
Could be. I doubt he would just throw out random excuses.
