MIKolbe
If you were to write a book for a loved one (spouse, child, parent, really razzle dazzle barber) about Catholicism and what it means to you, what topics would you write about? and why? Aya Sophia
Central would be the Trinity and my focus would gravitate to Person#2 - the ultimate inbreaking of the divine in our world: the Incarnation of God in the Person of Jesus. He is for us a source of joy not to be had otherwise and He is our road home to the Father. As for Catholicism and Catholic Church, the mystical reality of the Church's identification with Jesus and Jesus with the Church. Generally, I would concentrate on the deeply attractive elements of the faith that respond to the longings and hunger in the human heart for love and meaning. BG45
The Eucharist The Trinity (and especially the Holy Spirit. I almost never see the HS acknowledged elsewhere). The healing power of Confession. Probably practices like Lectio Divina and how Catholics actually read the Bible; this is definitely my favorite Scriptural practice ever. It's calming and reflective, and that means a lot to me in our fast paced world.
Maximilianus
I'd include something about redemptive suffering and how we weren't promised a rose garden in this world.
MissyP89
Hm. Where the Church came from How the Sacraments are a physical sign of a spiritual act -- Catholicism is big on sensory stuff Why Mass is important/where it came from The dignity of human life and how it influences the Church's morality. beatitude
This is a really fascinating question. My book would include a lot about the beauty and meaning of the Incarnation. The humanity of Christ is the cornerstone of my prayer life. I don't know how I could pray without him - like Thomas, I need to see and hear and touch in order to believe. I love the way the Christian belief in the incarnation permeates every aspect of our lives: we find Jesus in every single person whom we meet. A discussion of the sacraments would flow from that, especially holy communion and confession. My friendship with Jesus generally. I would include favourite snippets from the gospels to explain to people how I love him and why I'm glad to be part of Team Disciple. I echo Missy on the physical aspect of Catholicism and the way it engages all your senses. (Again, this all relates back to the Incarnation for me.) I would include some of my favourite church music, ikons, and holy paintings in the book. The communion of saints. I would want to talk about my favourite saints and tell their stories and describe what they mean to me personally. Scripture. I would mostly quote my favourite Bible passages and what they mean for my life, but I would also talk about Catholic exegetical approaches and describe the centrality of the Bible to our way of life. My favourite prayers, devotions, and feast days. Anybody close to me needs to know when I'm celebrating something, and why. The same goes for shrines that I love to visit. Mary. She has a profound influence on my life. I would want to explain why. The concept of vocation. A lot of people who are close to me do not understand why I am twenty-four and don't have a boyfriend. Some are puzzled, some feel sorry for me, and some are forever trying to set me up with mutual friends. They understand that it's my choice, but they think that I will change my mind once I meet the right guy. I would like to explain to them about the way of life to which God has invited me, and that I have freely chosen.

Ed Normile
I would write about what being a Catholic has meant to me, the good things I have gained from my faith. How I believe that faith is a gift from God, how I feel whenever I meet another Catholic or see a Blessed Virgin Mary statue in a strangers yard. If it were for my children I would write about how I pray for them, that they develop a strong faith and that they lead a good life and be an example of their faith, and how I feel that God has blessed me with the miracle that they are. Then I would throw in an epilogue about how Mlkolbe is a the coolest ever. ed I would write about what being a Catholic has meant to me, the good things I have gained from my faith.
