In all seriousness I am going to let this go. Please get back to the topic, before J_lol makes a snooty comment at me for distracting from his excellent and well put together open mic topic.

Please go back to the convent, so I can be assured you will spend your day doing nothing (praying) and you can repent of all your sins so don't fear your loving god dooming you for all eternity.

but this post and some of the others after it are pretty far off topic, agree?

As long as people believe we have "ask" politician to stop abuses of power, the abuses of power will continue.

i think you accidentally a word.

i hope its clear, no one thinks that every police officer is like this. even in the video the reporter commended the majority of the officers that are doing their job correctly and respecting the public. however, police departments tend to protect their own far too much, so when the rogue cops that go about beating innocent people get in trouble(and they should be fired) the departments will often close ranks and pretend nothing bad happened.

it isnt just american cops that do this, although they are generally considered more violent than canadian(though i have doubts about the RCMP) and british police, but recently in Vancouver there have been several incidents like this. that polish guy that was tazered to death, eventually they properly investigated and punished the responsible officers, but that was after years of media attention and pressure

I have the perfect video for this thread because I showed it earlier to a classroom of students, but the mods would smack it down for the language. Chris Rock did a skit on how to not get beat by the cops.

Police brutality is really overblown, but it does need to be reported on when it does occur. The NYPD in the course of these two weeks of protests has been surprisingly brutal to unarmed protesters. A Houston PD recently sat on a video of a man being beaten after surrendering for several months until it was leaked to the internet. These are horrible, horrible, incidents; but they are definitely not the norm.

i just watched that video... :lol4: :lol4: :lol4: :rotfl:
