Mr.Cat
Hes right, this is not an uncommon experience with American police, because we tolerate it and we don't ask our politicians to stop it. Because it is phatmass, soon someone will call him a liberal and that the police department was somehow justified, and that even if they aren't justified it's no reason to be complaining about it on national news... And it is exactly these kinds of responses to why you fear the American police, they are not your friends and they don't serve you. Even more frighteningly, people defend that.
i worked in law enforcement ... any of our deputies do something like this, he was fired, he did not get away with it; one case in austin involved a female cop using unlawful force during an arrest...guess what? the case against her went to a grand jury, not to mention she was fired and is no longer a cop... she didn't just "get away with it." ...so, to generalize every single policeman in America is silly.... to generalize every single police force is ludicrous... This is sad, and these police in the video should be reprimanded, punished and fired for what they are doing..... yet, methinks this msnbc "journalist" is a little too un-objective in the way he presented this story... please give us the who, what, when, where, why and how of the story... what police force is this? Oh.. an American police force... well, thank you MSNBC, your propaganda goes a long way with some, with me, I have to wonder why you just didn't present the facts.... Mr.Cat
i worked in law enforcement ...
So? When I was a member and volunteer for the Latin Mass Community here I was friends with a teenage altar boy, his father was picked up by the police for outstanding debt and so brutalized by "questioning" that he had to be taken to the county hospital at his expense. If what you say is true, that police misbehaving will be penalized and relieved of duty... I surely hope that the same happens to these officers. It hasn't happened yet but here's for hoping. You are an individual and they are vigilantly looking for wrongdoing. So much so that one of my friends, who was in proximity of a party (within the same apartment complex) was arrested on the charge of public intoxication, even though the officer refused to administer any kind of testing and she was never tested when taken to the jail. She was held for seventy two hours and released. A report was filed and the police department refused to follow up an investigation. You are absolutely right. These people are my friends. Where I can be jailed without probable cause and beaten to a pulp at my expense. With friends like these, why be afraid?
I think the anchor is just trying to make the point that this is a very serious problem that's been largely ignored by media outlets and some prominent police forces. His point is that presenting the facts hasn't worked to cause change in the past. Maybe if he uses a bit of emotional invective someone will pay attention...and they have. The officer in question is now facing an inquiry, and he wasn't before. Edited September 29, 2011 by Basilisa Marie

But it's simply not. But here is the thing dominicansoul, if it was a generalization, I wouldn't have any problems admitting that. Here is a generalization for you, I think religious people tend to be hypersensitive. If you need help discovering these distinctions, perhaps Muppets can help explain this. Only the best for dominicansoul.
