Byzantine
I have a book from the Daughters of St. Paul called "John Paul II: A Marian Treasury." The thing is, it claims to delineate Bl. John Paul's thought about Mary in accord with Vatican II's teachings. However, Vatican II didn't teach any new dogma. I was warned that things claiming to be in the "spirit of Vatican II" are usually some stupid innovation/heresy/what-have-you. So what should I do? Basilisa Marie
From some reviews it just looks like a book about John Paul II's devotion to Mary. Essentially it looks like a book about someone's opinion about someone else's spiritual devotion. It also seems to talk about the basics of who Catholics believe Mary is. If you're interested, read it. If anything seems weird, go look at the Vatican II documents yourself. Not everything about Vatican II is icky. LaPetiteSoeur
I'm sure the Daughters of St. Paul wouldn't give you any, um, sketchy stuff. They're good ones!
FutureSister2009
OOOOOHHHHHH!!!!! I have it! I haven't really started reading it yet but I've got it here on campus with me. It's not a relatively thick book but I'm going to read it soon!
Yes but I had been warned that when people used language comparable to this, they were usually trying to claim VII taught something it didn't and use it to advance heresy/innovation/what-have-you. Being Byzantine, I love VII (Declaration on the Eastern Churches :D )! It just gets icky when people say "in the spirit of Vatican II" we need to do things like ignore all church devotions and Mary and only concentrate "on social justice" (and by social justice they usually only mean food drives) and teaching children nothing but Jesus loves you. Is it Paulist Press that's unorthodox? Google isn't really helping me. You're right, there's one out there, I can't remember either.

I don't know which religious order they are affiliated with, though, and Google isn't helping.
