Quietfire
Ok, again. If a person follows the laws of the Old Testament ONLY and accepts Jesus as messiah, would that person be a Messianic Jew or something else? In other words, they refuse to accept any of the teachings of the Catholic Church or any christian belief. Obviously, do not believe in the Trinity, since to them it is 'made up' by the Church. All christian holidays such as Easter, Christmas are pagen. etc. If these are not the beliefs of a Messianic Jew, then what religion are they? Some of them said (when I asked) they were 'sacred name' movement/religion. Anyone ever hear of them?
Donna
No, I cannot give you an answer. If I've time, I'll peruse my David Goldstein. He was a Jewish convert in the early-mid 20th century. But I can say that many Protestants I have been in contact with seem to place very heavy emphasis on the Old Testament. I know a person who keeps the sabbath by the "lunar calander". She's not Jewish ethnic-wise, and "accepts" Jesus, but for all practical purposes she certainly is a Jew. And your friend is too, in my opinion. Other converts you might like to check out: the Ratisbonne Brothers (Theodore and Alphonse). Also, Fr. Pio Marie (or Maria?)....he was the little Jewish boy secretly baptized by his family's Catholic servant (when near death). These were all 19th century converts. Bl. Pius IX took him under his wing, and Fr. Pio M. testified to Pius IX's saintliness. Look, recommend her to St. Maximillian Kolbe; and the Ratisbonne's (tho' not canonized/beatified); and, I would also invoke Our Lady for her under the title "Queen of the Jews." You may want to also look into "Remnant of Israel." I wonder. These folks if still up and running, might be able to actually advise you re: your beloved.
