I am soliciting advice from ye, oh married men and women of Phatmass! I'm getting married in NINE DAYS and would love to know if there's anything you wish someone would have told you the week of your wedding (or sooner!)

Thanks :D

well, if I had any advise...

It would be to remember to [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod] because if you don't, WOW will you wish you did. And when you [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod] and then your husband [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod], make sure you [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod] or else!!!!!

Make sure to love him even when he acts like a [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod]. and NO MATTER WHAT...always be prepared to [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod] even when the police tell you that [mod]she needs to learn that on her own[/mod].

:P

I got married three months ago. It has been interesting to see how things have gone and how my expectations of what marriage would be like have been right or not.

Even if you think you have great communication skills and have heard all the advice about how you should talk about everything, there will still be misunderstandings. And really, talking about them is the best way to solve them. I have always appreciated Dostoevsky's Anna Karenina, wherein the unhappy 'family' never talk about anything and never fight, but are horribly unhappy, and the happy family does sometimes get into fights or misunderstandings, but they talk and work through it, and they are happy.

Selfishness is the end of marriage. It really is the most intimate relationship, in that all your desires should be for the welfare of your spouse and vice versa.

And thank you, Socrates, for posting that video. That was my first thought when I saw the thread.

yes..we do like to laugh at and with eachother. My apologies for not assuming otherwise. I certainly did not mean to offend or diminish you in any way.

but.. you want some advice....here's some advice...advice I wish I received before I got married 12 years ago.....

laugh a little more.

laugh with eachother

laugh at yourself, it's quite mortifying if done correctly.

don't sweat the small stuff. and the great majority of it is small stuff.

have lots of children.

Good luck on you upcoming marriage. May Jesus become present in each of you and through each of you to eachother.

Advice?
1. Never go to sleep mad, always apologize and make up.
2. Realize that now you are part of a whole.
3. Become a servant.
4. Learn to listen.
