FutureSister2009
Last night at my Philotheas meeting we read the story of Esther and discussed it. I meant to ask if she has been canonized but I didn't get the chance. So is she a Saint now or is she at least Beatified?
CatherineM
Righteous individuals from the Old Testament haven't gone through the formal canonization process, but many are considered to be saints. You could say they have been canonized by acclimation. Esther's example of virtue were recognized by the Church in that on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes parts of her story are used in the liturgy. She doesn't have a day on the calendar, but that isn't unusual for Old Testament individuals. So my short answer is probably, but I'm not a scripture scholar.
