KarenJoanna
I am worried because I saw on a website that watching tv and other secular activities on Sundays or sabbath was a sin. The website is not catholic and neither was the person that said it. He says he "saw" Jesus and he showed him heaven and hell. He of course has no proof of this and I want to not believe him but i can't seem to leave the doubt. He also said buying and selling was a sin, I know that unnecessary shopping might be atleast a venial sin on sundays and holy days. Also, if we can't buy or sell unnecessary, can we eat out at restaurants? Because we are basically buying food and patronizing but however the cathecism has it as a traditional activity. why did they change the old canon law to make buying more acceptable? I am so worried I am not keeping the sabbath day holy and I need an answer atleast.
Pontifex
If it helps you, know that I watch movies, go to the movies, eat out, watch football, keep up with my fantasy football team, and generally try to do things I enjoy on Sunday. I also celebrate the mass with passion, receive Jesus in the Eucharist, and fellowship with my family, friends, and brother priests. I think I am keeping the Sabbath Holy. I think you need to relax, do the best you can do make Sunday special but don't let the evil one rob you of resting and relaxing by getting you to obsess about everything you do on that day. Nothing you described in your post looks like sin to me. Pfex
