MissyP89
ianwp. Panty hose are annoying. They make using the bathroom much more complicated than it has to be, plus they rip easily and are just awkward.
TheresaThoma
Missy- that is why I wear tights. Much more durable and warmer. I wear skirts/dresses 98% of the time (I have to wear pantaloons to work.....). If I have concerns about modesty I wear some lightweight shorts underneath, problem solved. This is off the topic of modesty but in the winter I find a long skirt warmer than say jeans because I can put some long underwear or leggings on under the skirt and it doesn't feel as bulky. BarbTherese
I think that skirts v jeans or slacks (providing they are not skin tight) are a state of mind. One can be well covered in a skirt, one can be well covered in non form fitting jeans or slacks. Both can preserve modesty to my mind. I know that wearing jeans or slacks has been a big save on panty hose. I used to wear long socks under a longish skirt and was continually almost having to pause to pull them up again - no such problems with socks under jeans or slacks. Nowadays, I think only the really prudish look twice at a female in jeans or slacks with concern - most dont notice at all.
Archaeology cat
It's hard to get up from kneeling for the Eucharist in a long skirt. Skirts also aren't really that great for archaeology. And they sometimes get in the way of housework. I do like wearing skirts, but there are times when they really aren't practical. I do like my striped knee socks, though. BarbTherese
I have a couple of three quarter length skirts for special occasions. I never wear dresses nowadays. Most of the time, however, its jeans or slacks with a loose fitting top. Knee length sox I hate as they seem to continually slip down on me. At Mass on Sundays there is a probably an equal amount of women in dresses or skirts and jeans or slacks and I dont think anyone takes any notice of either. It is probably cultural as well as a state of mind which forms one's opinion of either and here in Australia anyway dresses, skirts, jeans or slacks no one really cares or notices that I have ever become aware of in later years anyway. arfink
Hey, don't look at me for the "you can only waers skirts to being modast," junk. I wear pantaloons and I'm very modestly dressed. I am even wearing a shirt also. Girls could probably wear pantaloons too.
