missionseeker
let me list the reasons why. Legs, and ankles and feet, oh my! Yes, I said it. While wearing skirts, men can still see your legs. Even midcalf / ankle length skirts leave some showing. Granted, it's only creepers or guys or have an attraction to nice legs (which, if you find offensive, you are probably hypocritical because it's the same as having an attraction to tall guys or dark guys or built guys or white guys) who will give it more than glance, but the fact still remains that more skin shows while wearing skirts than a nice pair of pantaloons. AND if you wear socks and shoes, your ankles and feet are covered, too! Not so in skirts. Wear pantaloons! Wind I have two words for you here: Marilyn Monroe. Picture this - you are standing outside in a skirt talking to a group of coed people. All of a sudden a random gust of wind comes and ! Embarrassing and immodest. Also annoying to have to constantly be holding your clothes down. It's probably a distraction from the conversation too. Now.. repicture this scenario in jeans or pantaloons... Problem SOLVED. Wear pantaloons! Transportation. Now this is something that may not at first strike you as something to be concerned about, but again, I ask you to picture in your mind a few scenarios.

A bike: Say you need to get from point A to point B. It's about 3 miles apart and you have no car but you have a bike. You can do one of two things: walk, or ride the bike. (In this imaginary world, there is no public transportation). Now, a skirt on a bike is no fun thing, nor is it a modest thing. If you don't believe me, try it. A three mile bike ride in pantaloons, however, is no problem (except you may be hot at the end. but I doubt a skirt would fix that.) Now let's say you're on a bike in a skirt. You are distracted by the constant need to adjust and readjust your skirt. You take your hand off the handlebar and look down, trying to stop your skirt from sliding up or getting caught in the bike's mechanisms, not realize that you are drifting into oncoming traffic and BOOOM. Wearing a skirt causes immodesty and death. Wear pantaloons!
A date. Pretend for a minute that you have a hot date. You are super excited about this date, you've been eyeing this guy at adoration (SHAME ON YOU) for about 3 months, and he's FINALLY asked you out. So you pick out your prettiest, most modest skirt and a nice blouse. You do your hair and make up. You are smokin'. Ok, you're beautiful, a wonderful daughter of the risen King (though you lovingly refer to yourself as a DORK for short.). Right on time he rolls up in this:
It could happen. There really is no decent way to get in that thing in a skirt. Or perhaps that's not your style. Say he shows up on this: not really a modest thing for a skirt... Now, those may be "extreme" examples, though I don't think so. But say he pulls up in your average SUV or truck. Those are still somewhat elevated, and somewhat difficult to get into in a skirt. It's possible, of course. I have accomplished it, but why make life harder for yourself. Wear pantaloons! Clutziness There are some girls, like me, for whom skirt wearing does not work a magical transformation into graceful and elegant ladies. Some of us are just clumsy. I have been witness to (and the victim of) wet floors causing unsuspecting people to slip. Fall in a skirt, and it's got potential to end awfully no mater how long the skirt is. Then you have the issue of a long skirt, which for some of is just a horrible accident waiting to happen. Fall in pantaloons, and you can probably still maintain some sense of modesty and propriety. Wear pantaloons! Doors, Kneelers, etc. Perhaps this is just me, but I find it much easier to get a skirt caught in closing doors, descending kneelers, and other random opening and shutting things. One time a dude managed to put the kneeler down on my skirt. It was a mid calf skirt, so it's not like it was EVERYWHERE. I can't remember how it happened, but I do remember it was awkward. We laughed about it later, but... save yourself the trouble... wear pantaloons! I leave you with these final words. Clothing will constantly evolve. In the 16th century men were wearing skirts and tights. Clothing is quite the subjective thing. And is completely NOT a part of who we are. Sure we can "express" ourselve through what we wear, but we can also express that through what we eat, what car we drive (tell me you did not think "red neck" when he showed up in the backyard bogger). If clothes make you feel more feminine - fine. But don't think that they make every woman feel classy or feminine. And if you NEED a skirt to make you feel classy and feminine, that's a problem. I would like to add that this thread is mainly a joke. A sarcastic reply to so many threads and blogs and articles I've read that make women feel like they are trying to be manly for wearing pantaloons. IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR DEBATE AND I HAVE MOD FRIENDS AND I BRIBE, SO IF IT BECOMES ONE, SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN TO YOU. YOU MAY JUST HAVE TO WEAR pantaloons FOR A WEEK! missionseeker
oh I don't mind either way usually. I just had read some articles about how only skirts are modest. Those I mind.
FutureSister2009
This is why I only wear really long skirts. I love to wear peasant skirts in the summer time and they're fairly long in length. During the winter I wear pantyhose under my skirts if I wear them. Other times I wear long pantaloons too
faithcecelia
I wear skirts (or ideally dresses) about 95% of the time, because I am more comfortable, but I most definately agree with some of your points! A few weeks ago I was going down the stairs on the bus when a gust of wind revealed everything to the elderly couple sitting downstairs. Another time recently I was at the local castle, 4yr old holding one hand, trying to hold the rails myself, carrying bags and trying to come down a steep flight of stairs with my fear of heights. It was also windy. The only way I could manage was to tuck the skirt in my knickers like a little girl playing handstands! Trousers would have been faaaaaar more modest!
