Postulant Angela With The Rockford Pccs!

I just happened to be looking for information about a religious community I want to visit and was surprised to find pictures of our very own Phatmasser-turned-postulant for the Poor Clare Colettines in Rockford, IL! Sr. Angela looks radiant! It's so nice to see her in her postulant outfit and veil. :)

The bottom picture shows her with Sr. Mary Laetitia, the novice mistress, and Mother Mary Regina, the Abbess or Superior of the Community.

Let us pray for her vocation and her perseverance in religious life! :)

For any PMers interested in the PCCs, their website: http://www.rockfordpoorclares.org/
And an pictorial essay, video and audio on these PCCs: http://www.erasedfromthelandscape.com/

She does look so happy! I was wondering how she was doing - this picture does explain it all!

PCCs do use the work "Abbess" and not superior, in case any are unfamiliar with PCCs and was wondering which it is!

That's what I thought, too, but I wasn't entirely sure. I know that Franciscans do not like the word "superior" since St. Francis wanted all his followers to be called "brothers and sisters" and not be superior to one another. I think the proper term for addressing Mother is Mother Abbess. St. Clare used it since she first stayed with some Benedictine nuns before starting the Poor Ladies (now known as Poor Clares).

ETA: the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal use "Local Servant" for the "superior" of the Provincial Convents and "Community Servant" for Sr. Lucille who is the founding Sister. :)

This is so so wonderful to see!! :) Angela and I have been on PM discerning forever. I am so happy to see her here with that radiant smile!! Thank you, Mater! Where did you find this? We were planning to meet up there for a while, but it got too close to her entrance and didn't work out. But if I can, I hope to try and make it for her clothing.

Yes, even in the beginning St. Clare didn't want to be the "leader" or abbess of the Poor Ladies but St. Francis told she would so under obedience and being obedient to St. Franics, she took the title but in her rule the abbess is like the least or last place - meaning that abbess does the same work as the others or, if possible, the worse work! Despite the title, there is no "hierarchy" in the PCCs.

I actually found it on the blog for the founder of Mater Ecclesiae Fund for Vocations. Sr. Angela applied for it so that she could enter without worrying about her student loan debt. It was posted back in July after she entered. :)
