Eternal CB
I went to confession about two months ago. I had a list of all my sins which numbered about 10 or 12. They included both mortal and venial sins. Anyway, I went to the confessional and as I pulled out the piece of paper with my sins, the priest told me to put it away and "focus on my main sins". I did as he told me but I felt really wrong and bad about it. I confessed basically the mortal sins. My question is, does the confession still count, and if it does, will it still count if I continue to see this priest?
cappie
As long as you confessed your grave or mortal sins then it's okay, but it would be good if the priest let you say what you wanted, as long as you did not suffer from scruples. Canon law has this to say: Can. 988 §1 The faithful are bound to confess, in kind and in number, all grave sins committed after baptism, of which after careful examination of conscience they are aware, which have not yet been directly pardoned by the keys of the Church, and which have not been confessed in an individual confession. §2 The faithful are recommended to confess also venial sins. There is nothing wrong with seeing this priest again as long as he lets you confess at least your mortal sins.If not look for a other priest if possible
