Maccabeus
How long is it Ok for a a person to receive the Holy Communion before he has to go to Confession again? My problem is that I got married few months ago, and I haven't been to Confession for many years, Before the marriage I tried but ran out of time, & wasn't able to do it, went around the city looking for a church that I could confess in. Its really bothering me that I didn't do it, Before the actually wedding minutes before I was to walk out to meet my Bride, I confessed everything to the painting of Divine Mercy that was inside the church's side room. It all came out of me like pouring wine out of a jug. During the mass I accepted the Holy Eucharist/ Wine. Bottom line is I felt horrible about it. cappie
When we are sure we have committed a mortal sin we are excluded from the reception of Holy Communion, however the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches: 1452 When it arises from a love by which God is loved above all else, contrition is called "perfect" (contrition of charity). Such contrition remits venial sins; it also obtains forgiveness of mortal sins if it includes the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible So you must now confess any mortal sin which you remember before receiving Holy Communion again.
