Hurricane Irene

The night of the vigil (before Mass with Pope Benedict Sunday morning) at WYD, it was raining fairly hard and there was lightning etc. Any way, the next morning (due to a bad translation into English) there was an announcement made about "the hurricane last night". It was pretty funny. (especially since Madrid is in the middle of Spain.)
Prayers for all of you in the real hurricane!

Chrysophylax that's funny. It should have been translated as "storm" or "thunderstorm". I mean -- tormenta vs huracan vs cyclon (or ciclon, don't know the spelling). Hmph. :)

I am glad I missed the worst of it. The worst thing that happened here on campus was losing power for about an hour

Cma, glad you're OK. Was worried about you being down the shore.

Our power was restored around 4:00 this morning after going out Saturday night. Couldn't get to Mass this weekend at all. Given how many people they shipped out of AC/Ocean City, huge props to the priest who was there serving the people. I love our shepherds. :)

There was a tornado that touched down about 2 blocks from my house ... thank God I had friends texting me the news or else we would have been clueless in the dark!
