Modesty For Men

I'm sorry for sounding like I was blaming women. That wasn't my intention. Perhaps this is just an issue of semantics. I was trying to respond to a woman possibly saying, "Well guys will lust after you no matter what you wear so what is the point in dressing modestly?" It obviously didn't come out right and I wasn't sure how else to do it. Mith Luin said it better than I could.

As far as men - if they want to drive me into the convent all they gotta do is show some skin or maybe some crack. Even the best-looking man mowing his lawn in a speedo would be enough to turn me off. :hehe2:

On the other hand, however, if a guy comes up to me in a three-piece suit, looking all good in pinstripes or brooks brothers (especially if he puts his hand in his pocket, for some reason) i'm up a wall. Also the least show of human feeling would be a near occasion of sin for me, if it ever happened in NYC. (sorry - where's the cynical smiley on here?)

Also, a british accent is the male push-up bra in my opinion. Not fair to flaunt it if you got it, or fake it if you don't got it.

British accent is like saying that if he wore colour it would turn you on, though. For me, a nice Scottish Highlands accent would be lovely, or maybe Windsor. But if it was Dudley, Wolverhampton, Basildon etc I'd run a mile!

ok, i have an issue with this statement. what competent women/teenager does not know they are dressing slutty when they wear short shorts and there butt is nearly hanging out? or who wears her pantaloons low so her thong hangs out? or wears a shirt so revealing her breasts almost fall out? or a women who goes running in shorts and only a sports bra? or women who wears a skirt which if they bent over we would all see here underwear if she was wearing any?

yes, little girls who are in middle school and younger don't know better. i find it really hard to believe a teenager and a grown women does not know the difference between immodest dress and modest dress. cause i don;t really see women dressed like this when they work in an office.

Yes, teens dress to get attention, but what they don't understand is the type of attention they're actually attracting through dressing in that way. Believe me - been there, done that.

Ok sorry that was aimed at us Yankees. And yes, do we even find that dude who was the overweight friend in Hot Fuzz a little more attractive because of his not exactly Oxbridge accent? Yes. Sorry. :paperbag:

But I'd have to say I like something a la Hugh Grant the best, followed by something a little Welsh a la Liam Neeson. Timothy Dalton as Mr. Rochester - when he rolls his r's and says "rrrroundly and sharply" that's an occasion of sin for me. Not to mention those loosely done cravates and those well-tailored suits he wears in that film! yikes.

Immodesty for men:

(ps: if i'm taking this a little flippantly it's because the honest answer to the original question is that women don't lust after strangers based on nothing but skin like men do. At least I don't. I do, however, create an imaginary "personality" based on something a man wears (like a suit) or does (like a nice accent) and this is lustful of me because it doesn't look at him as a real person but rather as an imaginary person with no faults or at least very sexy Byronic faults. )

There's a reason porn is more associated with men and romance novels women. Guys like to see; women want a story. What turns us on is a bit different.

Not saying that women don't, errr, appreciate looking at a man's body. It's just not quite the same mechanism.

In this fallen world, the goal is to avoid lusting after people, viewing them as objects to be used for our pleasure. That's something both women and men could afford to work on.

Women dress 'sexy' because it gets them attention and makes them feel good about themselves. Guys might have similar motivations to dress up, but I don't really see men wanting to flaunt what they've got in quite the same way. They might call attention to their height or physique, but they don't really walk around in revealing outfits.

I mean, in normal situations. I am not referring to what might be deemed 'appropriate' or normal attire at a gay nightclub.

Yesssss! Scottish accents make my heart go pitter pat. I wish my husband had one. There are few things that could make him more perfect than he is, but that's one of them.

My Catholic high school had a track anyone could exercise on. In the summer, an older guy with a belly frequently walked the track in nothing but an orange speedo.

Let me say, all the band members were scared for life.
