Above are great, especially the Beginning Apologetics Series by By Frank Chacon, Jim Burnham. In addition to the above, I enjoyed:

I'm Not Being Fed: Discovering the Food that Satisfies the Soul by Jeff Cavins
My Life on the Rock: A Rebel Returns to the Catholic Faith by Jeff Cavins
Surprised by Truth 1, 2 and 3 by Patrick Madrid
Prodigal Daughters: Catholic Women Come Home to the Church by Donna Steichen

Those are all great resources...but practically speaking I would start with topics that most interest you and learn about them. Study why the Church teaches what it does, where in the Bible is support for it, and also relevant Catechism passages. There are plenty of "top ten questions of Catholicism" lists out there, you just need to google for them. That would also be a good place to start. And always keep in mind that apologetics is SUPPOSED to be about love, not just winning an argument.

I second this. I've found these two links regarding how NOT to be an apologist to be insightful.

(You have to scroll down for this one.) http://www.catholic....01/0102fea1.asp

Also, actually read the documents of Vatican II, Evangelium Vitae, Humane Vitae, and Mulieris Dignitatem.

To add to the above "any Friend of God's is a Friend of Mine" and "Pope Fiction" by Patrick Madrid is an excellent little piece on the Communion of Saints. I would also add "The Lamb's Supper" by Scott Hahn in my top 5.

Also be sure to go to http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/ and read the Early Church Fathers firsthand!

Any recommendations on where to start reading on this topic of Apologetics...sounds fascinating.

I would recommend a good theology book. Start with Ludwig Ott's _Fundementals of Catholic Dogma_

Oh and this too...
