My former parish priest (who is absolutely wonderful himself!) was taught in seminary by the now pope. He has nothing but praise for him and his face would light up when talking about his seminars and the way he would answer a question in the language it was asked in, not needing to use the interpreters who were there to help the seminarians.

My elementary school principal grew up in Krakow. Her confirmation certificate was signed by the bishop of Krakow at the time....

none other than KAROL WOJTYLA!!!

I wish I'd been able to see it. When she was my principal (I was little, a little Catholic school girl!), he was still pope. Now he's a blessed (and a future saint), so it's totally cool!
