Quietfire
Father, Your response to lankyswimmer on the Nihil Obstat was (sorry I couldnt hit the quote button) means-'nothing stand in the way' of publication. book is examined especially if it is about faith and morals and a declaration that the work _contrary_ to the Catholic faith and morals. doesnt that mean that they examine it to see if it is contrary to catholic morals and faith...and then approve it if it is (contrary)? Or did I missread that? thanks. God Bless Edited April 28, 2004 by Quietfire
Pio Nono
JMJ 4/28 - St. Peter Chanel Quietfire, "Nihil obstat" means "nothing stands against"; in a theological context, this means that nothing in a given piece of literature "stands against" or is contrary to the Catholic Faith.
