As far as I know, people only think that's a hymn in Wisconsin.

It's a shame I like a couple of the ones listed here. I don't like some of the rather hideous Latin Hymns our schola does. There are a few Latin hymns I adore though. I'm waiting to see what we will sing here at school. I'm going to be singing in the choir so I'm curious

Nah. Like what you like. Don't like what you don't like. Recognize that other people may have different tastes than yours. Recognize further that we can get along even when we differ on taste.

"You are Mine" showed up on this 'bad list' but it's also come up on Vocation Station as people talk about songs that particularly influenced their vocations.

I was kind of surprised to see "Gift of Finest Wheat" show up on the 'bad list' as when people who really know about music decry the Sad State of Music Today they often make an exception to point out that 'Gift of Finest Wheat' is well crafted and worth keeping around despite its recent derivation.

There is however no excuse for Shine Jesus Shine. :hehe2:

Every year, there is this absolutely terrible arrangement of Christmas carols that the choir at school sings... And there's clapping and corniness and it's awful! Simply awful!!!!!!!!! And they always do something ridiculous towards the end of the year too... They smash together songs that are fine on their own and just ruin them! The horror! The horror!

There are some hymns I just despise, but my family loves them! We all have songs that we like and don't like, and we should disagree. We we all agreed I'd be scared....phatmass would be brainwashing us and we'd be a bunch of clones. :nun:

the one thing that gives me hope for "newer" music for the church is the new romal missal. Maybe that will give composers new insight on writing new music along with the new mass parts.

the songs i absolutely cant stand are "we are called", and "Anthem."

I can't stand 'In the Bleak Midwinter' or whatever it's called - I can't stand the name of the hymn or the song itself!

Which tune? Cranham or that other one that Anglicans sing?

I don't know - it was one we sang when I was at Carmel in England. I hated it the first time I heard it and couldn't believe how much they all loved it! It's so bleak!
