Quietfire
actually white magic is used strictly for entertainment and is not to be mistaken for black magic(which is the general discussion here) slight of hand, mirrors and such by professionals are not dangerous. Tricks used by entertainers are all explainitory, using slight of hand or whatever. Black Magic is used by those who wish to do harm in some way, calling upon spirits that are unknown and sinister. I dont consider Zigfried and Roy to be in the same field as those casting spells and incantations, calling on dark forces. Maybe Im wrong.

Cesar624
My aunt had gotten me a Ouija Board for Christmas! (She doesn't see it as being something serious, she just thought it was a game), so I said thanks and was polite...the second she left my house, I threw that thing down the garbage shaft! I didn't open it, I didn't even look at it too much...I THREW THAT carp OUT! Never have Ouija Boards, Tarot Cards, "crystals", or any of that kind of junk in your house! It's evil and brings evil...no matter how innocent it looks. Not even if it's in the boardgame section of Toys 'R' Us! STAY AWAY FROM IT ALL! St. Michael the Archangel...DEFEND US IN BATTLE! Holy Mary, Mother of God...PRAY FOR US! All the Saints in Heaven...PRAY FOR US! God the Father...PROTECT US! God the Son...PROTECT US! God the Holy Spirit...PROTECT US! Most Holy Trinity, One God...PROTECT US!
Quietfire
Oh yeah, Cesar624, I totally agree with that! Its something along the lines of what Ironmonk stated about opening the door on one of his threads. He didnt specifically state ouijas, tarots and such. But opening that 'pandora's box' of evil, allowing the devil to deceive.
toledo_jesus
I Think... Supernatural phenomenon occur...but we sure can't make it happen. Suggestion, self delusion or perhaps the work of demons (in extreme cases) are responsible. Of course, there are also miracles. But miracles are attributed to God, not the person or anything they did. Magic comes from without, not within, and is dangerous and forbidden. Those who dabble suffer the consequences. I have never experienced any supernatural phenomenon, except the answering of prayer. This is not for lack of trying, mind you. I was a naughty boy a few years ago, researched a lot of stuff. I came to the conclusions above. Anyway, that's my opinion.

It's extremely disrespectful and not likely going to be a very effective witness in winning her to Christ. --Jessica

BurkeFan
Archbishop Sheen ( being considered for Sainthood)talks about getting on a plane during Lent, and fasting from a meal. The nice lady next to him said she was a witch and fasting as well, for more abortions.
Sorry to jump in this a bit late, but do you happen to know where / when Archbishop Sheen said this? As you can probably tell by my user icon, I'm a bit of a devotee, praying for his canonization and all. In Christ, Dave
ladybug
Every person that I've known that started dabbling in wicca or the occult fell away from the church, and eventually stopped believing Jesus is the Son of God. Other things that they used to feel were a sin, no longer was a sin in their eyes. I've seen divorces and lives shattered, and people becoming hermits and becoming averted to Jesus and the cross or any mention of His name. These were those who kept persisting in it for ye despite warnings. It's possible to intervene sooner. So, if a person keeps persisting, expect to lose your faith as you think you have tapped into your own power and don't need Christ anymore. It's not your own power, it's those of the disobedient spirits in the air. Remember 1/3 of the angels fell. They may be beautiful but are not following the Lord God. If a wiccan is attracted to herbs and nature, the catholic church has nothing against herbs and nature, and we are very earth affirming. See the writings of St. Francis. And there are biblical herbs with healing properties in the bible. Our church uses sacred and healing oils, etc.... There is nothing wrong with loving the earth, and feeling closest to God in nature. But our connection needs to be with the spirits, angels, and saints that are obedient to Christ. If a person calls on a catholic saint to be your guide, that is different that calling on Hecate. The blessings we ask for and also bestow upon others in canticles need to come from the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It's possible those who convert from wicca to catholicism would make very good franciscans and God could put them to use in the church with caring for nature, and healing. It's possible they are searching in shadows for the real thing. Don't follow a book of shadows. Follow the sun (Son). Miracles, not magic (the imitation) is where it's at. If you are craving the supernatural, come to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Canticle of the Sun by Francis of Assisi Most high, all powerful, all good Lord! All praise is yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing. To you, alone, Most High, do they belong. No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce your name. Be praised, my Lord, through all your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and you give light through him. And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor! Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness. Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens you have made them, precious and beautiful. Be praised, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which you give your creatures sustenance. Be praised, My Lord, through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure. Be praised, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom you brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong. Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs. Be praised, my Lord, through those who forgive for love of you; through those who endure sickness and trial. Happy those who endure in peace, for by you, Most High, they will be crowned. Be praised, my Lord, through our Sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Happy those she finds doing your most holy will. The second death can do no harm to them. Praise and bless my Lord, and give thanks, and serve him with great humility.
