Phazzan
Hi there, The other day my friend was telling me a story of how her sister went out with this satanist of a loser boyfriend who was into practicing witchcraft and all that naughty stuff. Anyways, she said her sisters boyfriend (now ex) performed some ritual dance or something wierd like that and apparently, according to the testimony of the sister, she felt the earth dying (apparently the ground shaked ). I dunno, the details weren't very explicit, but yeah, it provoked me to ask myself the question, "does magic really exist?". I have thought about performing spells in the past, but I don't think I'd ever do it. However, sometimes I think if I could at least witness it then it might at least prove the supernatural, something of which I have grave doubts of. Don't fret, I wont be casting any spells on any of you, for you are all nice people, but magic has its roots with Satan right? So if it has existed in the past, what reason is their to believe it doesn't exist today? What does the Catholic Church say about magic? Peace out, Phazzan 4ever lives on! Seatbelt Blue
As a former wiccan and the friend of several pagans, let me answer with an unqualified _yes_. Magic does exist, and it's dangerous as hell.
Ash Wednesday
Ditto what Seatbelt Blue said. It's a showy and flashy, yet empty lure of Satan.
jessinoelw
Another former Wiccan here. Yes, magic does exist. I don't necessarily believe that it is the "realm of Satan," though. I just believe it is an area of natural phenomenon that God has not permitted us to access. Kinda like the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We use only a very small portion of our brains. I'm sure that there are many unusual things that we could do if we were able to utilize all of our mind, but God has not given us the go ahead. Maybe we will find out more in the afterlife. --Jessica
socalscout
Here is what is said in the Catechism about magic and mediums. 2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future.48 Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone. 2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service and have a supernatural power over others - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another's credulity. In other words if it aint prayer then it is not of God and anything not of God is of Satan. That is what I have been taught.
Kilroy the Ninja
Dabbled in it when I fell away from the Church. Magick is real, the Church says it's real, magick is evil, the Church says magick is evil. Bottom line: Stay as far away from it as your little legs can carry you. Iacobus
I am scared of things that scare me and magic (not the smoke and mirrors David Coperfeild stuff) terrifies me. So I don't dabble in it.
cmotherofpirl
Father Corapi talks about drug dealers he used to know who had satanists pray over cocaine and other drugs. Archbishop Sheen ( being considered for Sainthood)talks about getting on a plane during Lent, and fasting from a meal. The nice lady next to him said she was a witch and fasting as well, for more abortions. We are in a spiritual battle, people, and the other side takes no prisoners. All the Saints will tell you to put on the armor of God: prayers, fasting, the Rosary, the Mass.

littleflower+JMJ
yup its real, its evil and its all a trap. you do NOT i repeat want to open anydoors such as magic or anything of that sort because once their open, their presence is there always. i know how deadly this can be. its the dark and evil side, the part of the spiritual good and evil being battled out here on earth. we have to sheild ourselves and stay away from anything like that. do not play with it, nor underestimate it. there are powers, bad powers, and evil. thats why we must always pray to st. michael...for the evil spirits are always prowling about the world, seeking the ruin of souls!!! they will show you great things but its all lures and lies to take you down. dont open any of those doors. and im dead seroius when i say that. socalscout
I had a friend who practiced spell casting. On two occasions she awoke in her bed to see ghosts in her bedroom staring at her. She was totally unnerved but it took the last apparition to finally get it into her head that she should cease and desist. Apparantly it resembled a cloud of evil faces staring in her face. I never went back in that house. Prayer. Its that simple. St. BENEDICT is the patron Saint against Witchcraft. He will help as well. Oh yeah and... CHRIST!
