Byzantine
I am sometimes tempted to think lustful thoughts (or thoughts that may lead to lustful ones) when making the Sign of the Cross. This is extremely problematic for me. What should I do?
dUSt
This may be better asked in an open board where many people can reply. There is no clear theological answer to this, and any reply would be more advice or suggestions.
CatherineM
Religious ecstasy is common. Our bodies sometimes have a mind of their own. When I was training to teach in RCIA, one of the priests told us that it isn't uncommon for young men who are being brought into the Church at the Easter Vigil to experience arousal. It could be that you are simply experiencing excitement at entering the church, and your body is reacting to it. It could be worse. One of my husband's friends who also has schizophrenia hears angels speaking to him during mass.
