IgnatiusofLoyola
Thank-you for thinking of me. I seriously didn't think that anyone notices whether I'm logged in or whether I post, so that was nice. It's been a bad couple of weeks--my health just does that every once in a while, and usually (this time included) I don't know why. I don't think my new program of physical therapy is doing it, but who knows? Suffice to say, I'm tired, depressed, discouraged, have no energy, and while I do think that God is listening to me, I don't see any progress or any hope that things will get better resulting from my prayers. So, I haven't logged into Phatmass, because I'd just be a party pooper. Nothing horrible has happened, but nothing good. Nothing. Nada. And, there have been several discouragements with my family--just the same old croutons. I did take my "older gentleman" cat (he's 15) to the vet last week, and the tumor on his thyroid is getting larger (it's about the size of a dime)--in January the tumor it was so tiny the vet could hardly feel it. He also needs to drink more water for his kidneys. But, there is no way to know what these changes mean--it depends on so many factors. But, so far, so good--he's responding to his increased meds, and I'm working on keeping his weight up. (Since I'm adding more water to his food, he drinks that and eats less so I have to work to get him to eat more, including some hand feeding.) His mood is good and he isn't in pain. But, I've decided that since he is 15, I'm not going to take any instrusive measures (well, except taking blood). I'm not horribly upset because none of this is a surprise, just not good news. I'll post more when I'm better company. But, be assured that my not posting recently has NOTHING to do with any negative feelings about Phatmass itself, any individuals on Phatmass, or the Catholic church. If you have even a moment to pray for me, I'd appreciate it, because I feel like my prayers are making any positive difference at all. P.S. to Lil Red--You can call me whatever you want, but I don't consider myself a Protestant. First off, I'm not protesting anything. Certainly groups of people were protesting in the past, but that was hundreds of years ago. Also, I consider the the origins of the Anglican church, for better or worse, to be different than that of the wider Protestant movement in Europe--Calvin, Luther, Knox, et al. However, I don't care enough about the issue to debate the point.

IgnatiusofLoyola
Thanks for the nice posts. They made me feel better. BTW, I realized another reason why I'd prefer not to be called a Protestant. There are some (many?) of you on Phatmass who have very negative feelings about Protestantism, and I understand why. In addition, some of you have had VERY negative experiences with individual Protestants that I wish had never happened. So, "Protestant," and nicknames like "Prottie," not surprisingly, usually have negative connotations on Phatmass, or are used as an insult. This is a Catholic forum, and your "turf," and you have every right to feel that way and use those terms if you wish. But, because "Protestant" does have those negative connotations on Phatmass, I'd prefer not to be included in that group. There are many Protestant beliefs that I don't support. (Although, among Protestants, you could probably find someone who believes almost ANYTHING.) And, there are many Catholic beliefs that I DO support. God and I are working on where I belong and where he wants me now, and and in the future. (It could be different.) So, while we're working things out, if you remember, could we leave it at "non-Catholic," if we have to use a descriptive word at all, besides "friend?" If I'm being over-sensitive, well, as a community, we all have to deal with each other's quirks once in awhile. I'll try to be sensitive to your quirks. Lil Red--This isn't directed at you in any way. You know that I like you a lot and have a lot of respect for you. And, you and I have fun needling each other once in while, so I hope we're cool. BTW--Things aren't going much better. Latest fun thing--Last night half my front tooth came off, which means a trip to the dentist Sat. Yuck, (not to mention the cost). I also go to the doctor on Monday, so maybe he and I can come up with something new to try. God and I are working on faith and hope, and when I read what some of the saints went through, compared to their experiences, my life is soft and easy. Puts things in perspective. Still, any spare moment you have for prayer for me would be gratefully appreciated, and I'll try to do the same thing for you. I desperately need hope.
