Women Running For President

This is a rather interesting (albeit lengthy) article about Bachmann, including her "flavor" of Christianity: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2011/08/15/110815fa_fact_lizza?currentPage=all

Quite frankly Ms. Bachmann terrifies me, and I find her incredibly unqualified for the Presidency.

As far as Palin goes, if someone quits their job as governor midway through the term for whatever reason, he or she has absolutely no business running for President. There is more to politics than being anti-abortion.

Sarah Palin is pro-life, fiscally conservative, and it is a shame that the media has twisted what she has said so much. I really admire how she kept her special needs baby when she knew of his condition instead of having abortion like so many other women would have done. If you give me an example of why you think she is so mentally unstable I will listen, but your emotions-based arguments don't hold much weight.

I don't think that making the right choice to keep a child and not abort qualifies someone to hold the Presidency of the United States.

Well if I've ever been convinced to vote somebody to the most important political office in the world, it's because there is a lot worse out there.

wow, prolife and fiscally conservative woman?!?!? that really narrows it down, lol. there are several on this website that i would rather have as president than sarah palin, and bachmann as well.

your arguments are very based on emotions as well, fyi. the fact that she didnt abort a special needs child, while somewhat admirable(i dont think its that unusual, personally) does not in anyway qualifiy her for presidency. She is conservative in the same way that Ted Nugent is, rather than Abraham Lincoln.

All that has really surfaced of her policies have been regurgitations of GOP soundbytes. saying "im gonna fix the economy by slashing taxes and cutting spending, yeehaw momma grizzly!" is not the same as actually having a policy written up that can feasibly accomplish that. heck all that indicates is that you listened to a conservative talk radio show on the way to your speech and wrote down some key points on your hand.

And also a numskull. Turns out there are pro-life fiscal conservatives who aren't young earth creationists.

this.

i would not call her mentally unstable.... closer to unintelligent... but what do I know? I haven't met any of these ladies in person...all my info is from the news etc...
Bachmann at least is mentally unstable. on several occassions being asked questions by gay people she has freaked out, called for help told security/police that she was being held against her will and screaming.

Palin, well, im of the opinion that she is dumb enough, and lacking in any critical thinking skills/proven soundly ignorant of many important things, that her decisions would be at best unstable.

this is probably the most telling thing. Palin is a media "darling" at most.

saying someone is prolife and fiscally conservative doesnt make them not a nutjob if they are in fact a nutjob. sorry.

I'm sorta surprised that there haven't been any sexist jokes yet. Wow. Kudos, clowns of phatmass.

Yep, and I can't figure out what her "One Nation" Tour bus is for. She cancels the tour then shows up in Iowa for the Straw Poll. But she won't say she's running. It's really as if all Palin is doing is keeping up her own media hype.

Well, to be fair we should note that Bachmann is a nutjob not because of her blind and persistent ignorance of history, subscription to a manipulative fundamentalist sub-branch of Christianity or rather unflattering photos in Newsweek, but because her favorite authors and professors subscribe to theories that suggest that anyone who is not a particular denomination of Christianity is completely incapable with coming up with sound or good ideas. The law school she attended took years to get accredited because it based its understanding of law on the Bible, not the Constitution. Her favorite professors also promote the idea that we should enforce an Old Testament style of law, particularly suggesting execution as punishment for adultery and homosexual behavior. I'm not suggesting that she must then also subscribe to those ideas, but it's kind of a big deal if your favorite person is that radical. I mean, look at Obama - once the media found out about his radical pastor, he distanced himself from him to show that he doesn't agree with all of his stances. Furthermore her radical homophobia is appalling for someone who wishes to be a servant of the public - I'm NOT saying that she should be "pro gay rights" or promote the greater acceptance of homosexual behaviors, but she is, in fact, quite bigoted against persons with homosexual tendencies, which is an attitude the Church cannot condone.

Well we got Obama who is centre-right (according to one phatmasser) vs. Romney who is center right. Sounds like a let down. I think ill vote for Ron Paul.
