Pink Communion Hosts

I had to laugh when being shown the communion hosts production while at Notting Hill. Every so often, they cook up a batch of pink hosts!! Okay, so its because they need to identify the bottom ones from each cutting as they are always rough around the edge and cant be sold, but I can't help but imagining how cool it would be if Jesus were to come to me in a pink host :hehe2:

To match or complement the green, pink, and lavender habits recently mentioned on board?

If the priest tried to give me a pink host, I would think it carried salmonella.

"Father, I don't think this one is cooked all the way..."

Something to that effect....

Just to clarify, they are dyed pink so thay they are not used and can be picked out easily, but I would do a special happy dance if the Church did suddenly decide hosts should be pink!

I think that hosts should be dyed to match the color of the liturgical season. Just as a reminder that, for instancem "We're in Lent now," or "This is ordinary time."

If we did this, we WOULD have pink hosts for Gaudete and Laetare Sundays!!!! :woot:

But never a sweet Marian blue...

Say what?? As much as I love pink, that just doesn't seem right....

Its only so they aren't used - the pink colour means the bottom layer of the 73 sheets cut together can be picked out easily and disposed of, rather than risking sub-standard, rough hosts being sent out.

The thing about liturgical colors reminded me of something.

Faith, in Notting Hill will you have a prescribed postulant uniform?

'Cause if you don't, I'm reminded of a newsletter from the Carmel near me. Talking about their postulant-at-the-time, she would coordinate her clothing to the liturgical season, 'cause, well, she could! And once she had this amazing skirt with lots of trees and animals on it -- for Earth Day!

This was a delight to the nuns (who wear full habits).

You should do that. :)
